In Sickness

My husband Gary gave me a trip to Hawaii for our tenth wedding anniversary. It just happened to last two years and included our six kids and household goods. With the kids, ages 8 years and younger with one on the way, we discovered within a year of arriving in Hawaii that I had Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. If you do have to have a serious illness, I can recommend to do that in Hawaii. I just…

Margin for Mistakes

One of the volunteer roles I took when first married was as a counselor for Navy Relief. The Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society provides financial counseling and assistance to Navy-Marine Corps families members in crisis by supplying them quick loans for urgent needs(as qualified), help with emergency needs like baby formula and diapers or help with emergency travel. Pinky Promise

A promise. A vow. A pledge. It isn’t new to feel compelled to take extra steps beyond your spoken word to ensure the security of a promise. Jesus had to tell his culture that they didn’t need to add to their promises to make them more valid. Matthew 5: 33-37 “And…

Let’s fight over the soap.

I made my husband cry within the first weeks of marriage. During 31 years We have fought about money. We have fought over where to travel to see who. We have fought over whose memory is more accurate 🙂 depending on the issue. We have fought over frictional force formulas when trying to help kids with homework. Among other topics. (both engineers) Everyone’s list is different but likely long.  In conflict we either go to…
